You probably never thought you could learn a new language while scrolling through Twitter, but it's and nothing is like you though it would be. Thanks to a new library from Giphy , we're entering the wild world of learning languages via GIF and it's awesome. This release is not only a very tech-forward way to teach a language, but it's also an amazing way to promote inclusivity for the sign language community. The library is filled with GIFs of Robert DeMayo, Sign With Robert creator, signing tons of words, all broken into categories like food, holidays, emotions, dates, and many more. Since they're on a loop, a producer from Sign With Robert told Mashable this makes GIFs the perfect medium for teaching sign language, since learning happens when we see something repeated over and over. It's also a great way to spread sign language to the hearing community. The more people who sign, the more accessible the world will be for deaf or hearing impaired people. The GIFs can also make hearing people generally more aware of the hearing impaired community, teaching them important things they might have held misconceptions about. One example is the facial expressions involved in sign language.

It seems like GIFs are everywhere these days, from social media feeds and emails to group texts. And it's no wonder: Like emojis or memes, they're a fun way to add a little humor and creativity to our daily communications. A GIF which stands for "graphic interchange format" is a digital image file that contains multiple frames so viewers see a quick animation, often accompanied by playful text or images. GIFs are typically used to express a humorous reaction or feeling. Try using a GIF-creation app to energize class content, encourage creativity, or put a new spin on assessments. GIFs are fun to create, and as students tinker with the design choices, they'll get to think critically about visual effects and messaging. Teachers can liven up class materials with student-made GIFs or their own creations. Kids can give feedback on a lesson or activity with their own tailored GIF response.
